Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown

Summary: I'm not sure how much I can say without giving away anything important, but I'll try. Basically, there's a scientist who gets murdered and branded with the seal of an ancient brotherhood that wants to destroy the Catholic Church. And the sizable sample of anitmatter that he'd created gets stolen. And then this other guy, an expert in, among other things, said ancient brotherhood, and the scientist's daughter have to find the missing antimatter before it blows up the Vatican. And just to complicate matters, conclave is going on and the 4 cardinals who are by far the most likely to become the next Pope have all been kidnapped by someone who claims that he's going to kill them at various churches. So they have to try to save people and stop the person responsible and figure out wtf is going on and it's all very exciting.

Reflections:Monday night I quit reading 70 pages from the end when they'd basically tied up the loose ends and all they had left to do was tidy things up a bit. And reflecting on it as I was trying to fall asleep, I kept thinking I'd finished the book only to wonder how they'd tied up something and then realize that I hadn't finished reading it. (And just for the record, the fact that I wandered off 70 pages from the end is not meant to indicate bad things about the book. It had way more to do with the fact that I'd been reading for several hours already at that point and/or the fact that I wanted to get online. *cough* Anyway,) So Tuesday night, I finish reading the book and I keep randomly dissolving into giggles as they make another plot twist or surpising revelation. Seriously, there was like 4 of those in 70 pages. And that made me rather wound up for the remainder of the day. Because I thought they just had to tie up a few loose ends. Which they did do, but they shaped them into a gazelle in the process.

Another issue that sticks out in my mind is trying to figure out just what the author is trying to say about Catholicism with that book. Or religion in general, even. It seems like sometimes it's a positive view and other times it's a negative view. And then given that ending... Speculations involve the usage of crack. Altho I'm not sure whether by the author or the camerlengo. Um, yeah. Enough about that. I would speculate further, but, yano, that was almost a week ago. I've probably forgotten most of the important stuff.
